Welcome Vonda!

Q: For how long have you been writing?

A: Marcia Carrington, thank you very much for this interview. Since the 3rd grade. My first project was me re-writing a Flintstone’s anniversary episode. I don’t recall what I wrote. I remember preferring my version over the one I watched.

Q: Have any life experiences inspired you to write your books?

A: I love this question, and hope you do not mind my lengthy reply. But first, I want to state; I consider everything I have published at this point, to be short stories, not books. Some people call ‘em novels, books, ect… I don’t. To answer your Q: Indie Authors Make Better Lovers, was inspired by a group of marketers who wanted me to feel like a slut for writing the short story, Facebook Breaks Up Marriages.lol. Somebody was under the impression I’d feel ashamed if people thought I wrote about sex. That story’s not erotica. They didn’t read it, they assumed, and then spread rumors, because I didn’t want them to promote me. I was shocked, because people told me they would shy away from my pornography. I hadn’t ever written a sex scene. I was confused, and then very angry. What I do, or do not, is up to me. I had nothing to prove, but I did want to vent a lil frustration. I asked myself, “Why sex? Why do these weirdos think I’d be all intimidated if the world thought I wrote about sex?” I couldn’t find an answer. So I asked myself another Q, “What kind of sex story do ya wanna write?” and then I wrote, Indie Authors Make Better Lovers, which turned out not to be a sex story, but a story about communicating with a man with whom I wanted to have sex. The story’s sexy and funny. I had a great time redirecting my anger, and becoming all about the salacious. I learned that I needed to learn how to detail sexual encounters, before I could write a sex story. I thought it would be quite easy, but nope!

Side note: “Facebook breaks up marriages.lol” is being rewritten, and will be released shortly after my novel, “The Law of the Jungle.”

Q: Each writer works in different ways with reference to writing. Do you have a writing program/schedule that works for you?

A: I wish! I could write, write, and write if life I could pay my bills.

*

Q: Do you have any favorite book genres which you love to read?

A: I don’t much enjoy reading. LOL Sorry. Now every writer has a reason to hate me.

*

Q: Are there any favorite books and authors who have been influential upon you and your writing?

A: I am my favorite author. Sounds conceited, I know, but I can’t help but be totally obsessed with my stories and my characters. I just am. I talk about Hemingway, and I believe each day, because of his story, The Old Man and the Sea, I get know the importance of how to relate my story in a manner that creates a feel for my readers to experience, rather than telling them, what is. Two authors; Jay Squires and Mike McNeff, gave me advice, which I use now to craft what I write. I could never thank them enough for their tutelage.

*

Q: I found PICNIC to be a vivid, highly entertaining story, with a well-balanced combination of erotica, and comedy that meshed well together. I also liked the central character, who was true to life, and very sympathetic. What inspired you to create this story?

A: Thank you. I’m happy to know you enjoyed the story. Balance, it usually comes to me as writer’s block. I cannot write that which does not belong. I can try, but it’ll be really stupid, and usually take me a few weeks to realize it. :-/ Which reminds me of why I wrote PICNIC. I was editing another story, totally engulfed when a family member yacked about a picnic. Annoyed, I couldn’t get the q out of my head… A freakin picnic? I didn’t want to go, less think about going. “Maybe I should write a story all about somebody not liking picnics.” = PICNIC was written. 😀

*

Q: Amongst your stories, is there one which is closest to your heart, and why?

A: Closest to my heart is the story I am in the middle of writing. My characters are living, they are doing, and I gotta make their story make sense. I love it 😀

*

Q: Do you have any favorite TV shows, either from the past, or currently on the air?

A: My favorite show, or movie, depends on what theme my mind is temporarily entertaining. I view, read, and listen to all forms of entertainment, and can appreciate aspects of each thing, but I favor whatever I, at that moment, am being entertained by.

*

Q: Are there any hobbies or pastimes you like to participate in when you have spare time?

A: My ideal life would be: Alone with my laptop, coffee pot, and music maker. I’d do nothing but write, exercise, shower, and repeat til I fall asleep.

*

Q: You are a versatile writer in terms of genres, tackling stories in the erotica, and comedy genres. Would you like to write stories in any other genres?

A: Currently, I am editing an adventure drama, and trying to balance comedy so it doesn’t take over. If I win, this story shall be amazing. I couldn’t imagine writing a horror story, but there was a time when I couldn’t imagine writing erotica, so I’ll never say never, and write whatever story I feel to write.

*

Q: Are you left-handed, or right-handed? Being a left-hander, it is interesting to see how many writers are either one or the other, or ambidextrous.

A: I am right handed.

*

Q: Do you have any other writing projects, or new/upcoming releases, that you would like to mention to readers?

A: My releasing has been hampered by illnesses, car accidents, family needs, and then my laptop died. But at least I haven’t become homeless, this time! LOL Real life sure can bite.

My releases shall be:

1) The Law of the Jungle; an adventure drama.

2) Facebook breaks up marriages.lol; a romantic comedy. Newly edited.

3) All my short erotica stories, already published, re-published together and in printable version, including Alison’s Diary.

4) New erotica short stories, (Title to be announced upon release) a collection of humorous, and some dramatic tales highlighting sexual fetishes. These stories freakin tickle the heck out of me. I think my fav’ drama is “Leverage,” and my fav’ comedy is, “Reason.” I can’t even think about Reason without laughing, and then feeling, “Aw.” In this collection, I actually do put two naked people into a closet. LOL I LOVE WRITING!!! This collection will be released in a printable form.

5) My erotica drama; Murtagh McKnight. When I think of that shadow man I get chills… The really good kind. 😀
