In today’s guest post, I have the great pleasure of welcoming author Pamela Winn again to the blog. Pamela, author of supernatural, poetry, children’s, and short story compilation books, has kindly offered Marcia’s Book Talk an insight into the existence of parallel, and alternate worlds in literature. Now, over to you Pamela!

ARE THERE REALLY PARALLEL OR ALTERNATE WORLDS?
Because I write so many books that include the subject of alternate worlds and realities I wondered how many people believe in the possibility.
Throughout history there have been amazing tales of parallel worlds. The Native Americans in America have many tales of opening doors to other worlds. Even some leading scientists believe in them. I think going back to Tesla there is a possibility of opening a wormhole to other worlds. Imagine, if you will, how enormous this scientific breakthrough could be. If we knew a tornado, earthquake, or other natural disaster was coming we could open a wormhole and get people out of harm’s way.
Of course along with this, we have to realize that governments around our wonderful planet would want to use the wormholes for less helpful situations. I can easily see an armed group of soldiers stepping out of a wormhole and opening fire on a group they think is a threat.
There would also be others, like in my book Tunnels who use the wormholes for their own gain. I used bank robbery in my book, but I think you could see the possibilities for crime and mayhem.
I like to think these wormholes, besides alternate realities could also take us to other worlds and perhaps even to the realm of heaven. If you don’t believe there is one, first of all, I’m sorry. For me, I hope there is, so someday we can be reunited with loved ones.
Along that line, how about stepping to other worlds so we can help them. In a lot of my books I have explored this possibility. In my Parallel Adventure series, twins get to do this very thing. In Pacific Passage, the group gets stuck in a parallel world that explores the mystery of missing people.
Whatever your beliefs are I think writing about parallel worlds and alternate realities is a genre that can be explored a million ways with a billion different takes on this fascinating subject. I hope you will check out the ones I write, but whatever you read, I hope the adventures challenge your mind and give you a lot to think about.
