“Shut up and eat,” Raph said, feeding her a packet of potato crisps, which she polished off, to her surprise, followed by a can of mixed fruit. Both of these were like heaven to her palate after days of no food, and her food fix made her more alert, washed down with plenty of water. Raph grinned at her, and nodded.
“Thank you,” Katie said, beginning to cry.
Raph groaned heavily, and rolled his eyes.
“Oh there she goes again – crybaby. I can’t work you out; you don’t eat, you cry, you eat, you still cry…you’re a basket case, man,” Raph said. He examined her, and saw that her eyes were wet from her crying. Raph took out a handkerchief, and dried her tears. This was such a surreal chain of events that Katie believed she was in one of those weird dreams where someone changes personality half-way through, like a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde transformation. Katie composed herself, moved by this man’s actions.
“Who are you, an angel, or the devil?” Katie said.
“Huh, you trying to psychoanalyze me little girl?” Raph said, curling his mouth. “I’m the devil personified.”
