About the Blog Author

Marcia Carrington writes about the human condition, exploring what makes people tick, but in an upbeat and optimistic tone. She is an interested observer of popular culture, and fan of cinema from all eras and countries, especially from the 1930-1970s. Marcia is also a long-time soap opera viewer, watching daytime, and night time serials from a very young age.

Marcia is also a food connoisseur, with a particular love of chocolate, and coffee. The morning coffee has always been a staple for Marcia, and something which she cannot do without. There is just something about the fresh aroma of coffee early in the morning, and anytime for that fact, which proves irresistible to her.

  1. Hi Marcia–thanks so much for reviewing my ebook “Going Home and Other Stories” on Smashwords. Really appreciated.

I’ve also signed up to follow your blog as it looks very interesting and am going to check out your ebooks on Lulu, as well.

    Thanks again.

  2. Hi Sylvia,

You’re welcome, it was a very interesting read.

I hope you find the blog interesting and you are most welcome to have a look at my e-books.

    Have a great day!

    Marcia

  3. Marcia, thank you for your thoughful reviews of my stories. Glad you like what you’ve read so far. Interestingly, I was surprised (and pleased) by your review of “The Suburbanites” since that is one of my least favorite of the 13 stories I have published so far on Smashwords. I have another three stories finished and will publish them in the next few months.

I write about things that I enjoy and please me. Generally, as I say in “An Irish Love Story,” I like happy endings. I would be interested in your thoughts on the creative process of fiction writing. It is so different for each writer. For example, I currently have four stories in progress, each one at a differnt stage. One is another western, one a historical romance, another baseball story and a love story on two levels, physical and spiritual.

I started my life as a writer and I guess I will end it as a writer. Best wishes.

    • Hi Russ,

You’re welcome, it’s a pleasure. Yes, I did like THE SUBURBANITES a lot, as it reminded me of those intimate, quiet marital dramas from the past which, unfortunately, seemed to have disappeared from film and television. It had many fine moments which for me were vivid and realistic. I like all of your stories, as they are all very different, and say interesting things about the human condition.

You’re right, the creative side of writing is so different for everyone. I think we all have projects at varying stages of progress – I myself am working on another at the moment which is food-based , another being a romance short story, so I knoe exactly what you mean.

Thank you for posting to the blog – hope to hear from you again soon!

      Marcia

  5. A to Z Collection of Women’s Erotica: Maureen’s Story
Smashwords Review by Marcia Carrington on Nov. 02, 2016 :

“While this is a short sample from the author’s longer book, relating one character’s experience to the reader, this is an assured, well-paced piece of erotica that is not explicit, but more subtle in its workings.”

Thank you for your kind words. I plan to finish all 26 short stories soon. Again, merci.
